St Columb is situated in Mid Cornwall about 5 miles from the northern coast. Named after St Columba it has a fine church dedicate to the saint. St Columb is only place left where the ancient game of hurling is played. Every Shrove Tuesday and again 11 days later, hundreds of townspeople attempt to score a goal with a small silver covered applewood ball. The goals however are two miles apart. |
